Salvation Testimony: "Man plans; God laughs."

Some of the most beautiful moments that I have ever experienced happens when God "messes up" our plans. There's an old Yiddish adage that goes, "Der Mensch Tracht, Un Gott Lacht," or in English, "Man plans; God laughs." The essence of that phrase comes from Proverbs 16:9 saying, “The mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." Such is the case in this beautiful story.
According to "the plan," the intention was for several members of the group to have a VBS-day in a specific place. Upon arrival, the team was told no. After being redirected to a completely new location by our leader, God showed Himself in a mighty way to all involved. Simply put, He placed us where He wanted us.
After a beautiful day of teaching, playing, singing, and worshiping with children (*It is important to note: the elementary-age kids completely obliterated two 18-year-old varsity high school athletes in soccer; additionally two adults discovered that arthritis is a real thing!), Jason, one of the most compassionate men I know, asked if we could check on a young lady right down the road.
This 13-year old child has suffered so tremendously from seizures, she is now at the point that her mind is that of a toddler. Apart from a divine miracle, any chance of healing, proper medical care, and even much-needed medicine is not a reality. Upon entering the home, there was very little to do; all that the team had was a $20 bag of food (primarily rice and beans), some basic medicines that you and I can grab at any dollar store, and a copy of God's Word, in Spanish.
It took a very small amount of time to realize why God's plans are always better than ours. The family had not eaten in 15 days. The father had tears streaming down his face in gratefulness declaring, "I now know there's a God." In short, that family gave their hearts to Christ. I can't help but think about a precious, elderly widow that slipped $20 in my hand after Sunday School the day before our flight. She whispered to me, "It is not much, but use it however the Lord leads you." She has no idea what awaits for her in Heaven. Irregardless of how she views her service here on earth, I can't wait for the day to watch a family that she has never met, can't communicate with, has nothing relatable they can compare (apart from Christ), and could not look any different from her walk right of to her and wrap their arms around her neck. I can't wait to see the look on her face when that family says, "Thank you, because YOU are the reason WE are here!" LITTLE IS MUCH WHEN GOD IS IN IT! EVERY SINGLE TIME!
